Tottenham Hotspur are long overdue for a midfield addition and Aston Villa are finally ready to part ways with their highly rated Englishman, Jack Grealish. Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy has been trying his best to drive down the transfer fee since knowing of Villa’s financial crisis. Ideally, the Championship outfit would have liked to sell the Grealish for £40m but might have to agree to half of that in order to pay off their own dues.
Competition for Grealish has also died down as Mauricio Pochettino looks to sign the 22-year-old before his club’s pre-season tour to the United States. The transfer understandably might see Grealish’s £20,000-per-week wages rise to over twice the amount.
Tottenham will have to make the necessary additions to improve their position in the league standings and also to better challenge for trophies. While they might be a formidable side in the Premier League, Pochettino is yet to deliver with silverware during his four-year stay at North London.
Grealish is expected to give Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen competition in the Tottenham first team. The duo are ridiculously talented and have been shouldering major responsibilities for a long time. It would not be the worst thing to bring in more young legs to balance out the workload. Plus, Grealish will also give Pochettino different options to work with.
The 22-year-old is one of the most talented players in the Championship and deserves a call-up to the big leagues. He had featured in 34 games for Villa this past season and contributed with 3 goals and 8 assists while also overcoming a severe kidney issue.
With over 100 senior team appearances for the Claret and Blues, Grealish has developed into a prime attacking talent with all the makings of turning into a Premier League star.
Grealish was born in the West Midlands itself but represented the Republic Of Ireland in the international stage when he was young. He was called up for international duty when he was 14 and later racked up 19 caps for Ireland’s U17, U18 and U21 teams. He switched his allegiance to England on the advice of Roy Hodgson and now has 7 caps for the Three Lions U21 side.

His playmaking abilities are improving with each passing game and will be warmly welcomed at White Hart Lane. Pochettino favours young talent and somehow Grealish seems to be the perfect fit for the Argentine’s fast-paced attacking style of play.
