For Mario Lemina, the sky is the limit as the Gabon International has room to grow into a prominent figure in the Premier League. Onefootball reports that Manchester City have now entered the running to sign the former Juventus player as Pep Guardiola looks high and low for reinforcements that will keep his well oiled City team from fading away into a distant memory.
Southampton‘s Lemina is undoubtedly one for the future as the promising midfielder must have done something right in order for Guardiola to stop, turn his head and call out to Lemina in asking him to join the Spaniard in their conquest to acquire success.
Dynamic in midfield with speed and agility in his ranks, Mario is also solid in his distribution of the ball and is physically strong to meet the rigorous demands of the Premier League. He had made a total of 29 appearances for the Saints but could only be influential enough just once, as he was credited with an assist to his name. His work rate is fantastic as he makes sure to chase down every loose ball in or around his area or ceases any given opportunity to knick the ball away from the opposition.
Signing for Manchester City will not guarantee a place in the starting 11 of the team but it will, on the other hand, give the player scope to train with the senior team on a daily basis which in itself, carries so much worth as he would get to study the bigger names and use their game to improve and further develop his own game.
Manchester City have a treasure chest of midfielders at their disposal yet they were still seen in the hunt for former Napoli playmaker Jorginho. With Chelsea announcing Maurizio Sarri as their new head coach, the announcement of the completion of the signing of Jorginho soon followed. This was an unexpected set back for the Citizens as they were keen to set Jorginho up in their midfield ranks to set and control the pace and tempo of the game.
Fernandinho, for now, looks set to keep his role as Guardiola’s clock master as the Brazilian keeps the team ticking on and off the ball. Lemina will be expected to be given a more free role in supporting any Manchester City attack but will have to be present to protect his defensive line when City are facing a counter. Manchester City or Southampton, Lemina has the time to develop into a fine central midfielder and should look to work hard in this coming season if he wants to make a name for himself at a bigger club.
