Cardiff City reportedly have managed to convince Liverpool over a second loan agreement for Marko Grujic. Both the clubs are keen on completing the signing but according to Neil Warnock, the deal is being held up by the midfielder’s agent. Speaking to Sky Sports News after Cardiff’s 6-0 win over Tavistock in a pre-season friendly on Monday night, Warnock said, “We spoke to Liverpool, I think everything is in the pipeline but no news yet. We like him. I’m not sure his agent fancies him coming with us but Liverpool do and I think Marko does.”
Cardiff have already shelled out £27m this summer to firmly bolster the club ranks ahead of the 2018/19 Premier League season. However, adding another component will certainly place in them a stronger position, especially who has already proven to be a perfect fit in the club ranks.
Grujic was a standout performer in the latter half of the 2017/18 season, making 14 appearances and helping City earn automatic promotion to the English top-flight. With the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and James Milner already stationed at Anfield, the 22-year-old was struggling to find minutes on the pitch and had to be shifted out to Wales.
In order to not hinder his footballing development, Jurgen Klopp sanctioned the move in January and certainly has been rewarded for the decision. However, with the Reds recently acquiring Naby Keita and Fabinho, it is almost guaranteed that Grujic will be even less involved for Liverpool’s proceedings in the upcoming season.
The 2016 summer addition was one of Klopp’s first signings as the Liverpool head coach. The central midfielder made his way over to Merseyside from Red Star Belgrade for £5m.
He had earned 28 caps to his name for the Serbian youth sides and was touted to be one of Klopp’s revolutionary youth acquisitions. Grujic’s talents were put on display in the EFL Championship last season which eventually earned him a place in Serbia’s final 23 man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He did not get to feature for his country on the international stage this past month but does have 8 caps to his name already.
In order to truly fulfill his potential as a young professional, Grujic should definitely opt for a loan away from Anfield. With Warnock favouring him, he is bound to find himself a lucrative spell with the newly promoted outfit.

The player himself should have the final say if the clubs have already agreed to terms. And if not Cardiff, the 22-year-old should at least look for better prospects elsewhere to provide himself with regular first-team opportunities.
