Manchester United are facing competition from a host of European outfits for the likes of England U17 international, Dylan Crowe. The 17-year-old has been a revelation for his country in the U17 European Championships held in May and is wanted by many clubs. Other than the Red Devils, RB Leipzig, Borussia Monchengladbach and Benfica are all gunning for the signature of the fullback.
Crowe has already been offered a professional contract by Ipswich Town but the youngster has decided to wait it out over the prospects of other interested parties. Some clubs are willing to pay in the region of £500,000 to get him, even before he signs a deal with the Tractor Boys.
If he does opt for a move to Germany, Crowe will join the large contingent of English footballers to have set up camp in the Bundesliga. The teenager has progressed at a meteoric rate in the Ipswich youth ranks and is destined for greatness at the elite stage.
It is understandable that he will only join the development squad at Old Trafford if Jose Mourinho manages to convince him over a move. However, Crowe could also prepare himself for early recognition in the Red Devils youth ranks.
The Manchester United academy is brimming with top-level talents and already has a few wonderkids including Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes and Matty Willocks. We have already seen Scott McTominay carve out a spot for himself in the Red Devils senior team next to the likes of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera.
Marcus Rashford has been an ever-present magician who has the potential to one day evolve into a superstar. United have kept up with the philosophy Alex Ferguson left behind, which is to pay close attention to the club’s academy talents.
Crowe could join up the Manchester outfit and aim for the ultimate Premier League spotlight. However, with the likes of senior internationals like Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw and new addition, Diogo Dalot already in the side, he will find it hard to break into the senior squad any time soon.
Jose Mourinho has been on a spending spree and is looking into the prospects of a few elite players in the fullback position. Crowe could be promised better terms abroad or even at Ipswich Town. He should definitely measure his next move wisely before taking the first leap into a professional career in football.
