Burnley will be braced for a rampaging Arsenal team who visit Turf Moor on Sunday. Arsene Wenger’s team has been on a roll playing exquisite football which the fans have wasted no time in calling the ‘Wengerball’. The Gunners celebrated Wenger’s 20th year in charge by dispatching Chelsea 3-0 and followed it up with a 2-0 win over FC Basel, in a performance which left many, awestruck. But Wenger will also realise that his team’s profligacy in front of goal might harm them in the league somewhere down the line where the margin for error will be much less.
Coming to Burnley, the Clarets have not embarrassed themselves in any manner till now. They have shown the requisite application to compete with the rest of the teams. Their high point was the shock 2-0 win over Liverpool and it would have given them immense confidence for the rest of the campaign.
Sean Dyche’s men are coming off a positive 2-0 win over Watford, who themselves had shot down Manchester United 3-1 the previous week. Though they find themselves in a respectable 13th place, the manager would know they have let opportunities go to improve their position even more. Burnley have failed to capitalise on a win as they have gone on to invariably lose the next match. This will be something that Dyche will be looking to change on Sunday.
T40’s PREDICTED BURNLEY LINE-UP VS ARSENAL (4-1-4-1)
DEFENCE
Tom Heaton will be in goal and he will have to come prepared in order to face a barrage of shots which the Arsenal attackers are sure to come up with. Matthew Lowton will be at right-back and will be up against either Iwobi or Sanchez. He will have to stick tight to his man and deny the wingers and the full-back any space.
Michael Keane and Ben Mee will be the centre-back pairing and the duo will have to bring their A-game in order for Burnley to take back anything from the match. Stephen Ward will be at left-back and will have to deal with the in-form Theo Walcott.
MIDFIELDERS
Dean Marney will most likely be in the holding role in front of the back four and will have to deal with the rampant Arsenal flair players. Jeff Hendrick and Steven Defour will be the midfielders stationed slightly ahead of Marney and will look to carry on their good form.
ATTACK
Gudmundsson has seemingly nailed down a starting role and will be stationed on the right-wing while George Boyd will be on the opposite wing. Sam Vokes will be leading the line by himself, with his partner-in-crime Andre Gray, currently serving a ban.
