According to reports, Barcelona are keen to sign Chelsea midfielder N’golo Kante as they look to stop Real Madrid‘s domination in European competitions. Ernesto Valverde will be aware that he will need to deliver the Champions League sooner rather than later and in a bid to do so, he is trying to bring in Kante to the Camp Nou.
Kante has been a standout player for the Blues in the past few seasons even though they did miss out on the top four spot in the previous campaign. The Frenchman has almost waged a lone battle in midfield for his side as the new signing Tiémoué Bakayoko has failed to establish himself in the Premier League.
It is believed that Barcelona are willing to offer the London based club a cash plus player deal to lure Kante. The player involved in the trade will be Andre Gomes who has failed to live to up to expectation at the Catalonian outfit.
Chelsea have officially now parted ways with Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri has brought in Jorginho with him. The Blues will be aware that they need to strengthen up their midfield as the likes of Bakayoko, Cesc Fabregas and Danny Drinkwater have failed to match the standards required at a top club.
The Frenchman has also played a crucial role for his national side in the World Cup as France are just one step away from being crowned the World Champions.
Kante is a workhorse in the middle of the park and he is often said to have four lungs as he is found everywhere on the pitch trying to win back the ball from oppositions. The 27-year-old usually tops tackles, interceptions and distance covered stats and will walk into any team in the world in the defensive midfielder role at the moment.
Chelsea certainly cannot afford to lose a player of Kante’s calibre. They have other areas to fix and selling Kante will be disastrous for the Blues. However, a move to Barcelona will be tempting for the Frenchman as he will get an opportunity to play in the Champions League.

Chelsea are currently in a turmoil and they are set to lose some of their star players like Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard. They have struggled to score goals freely and they have lacked defensive organization as well. A lot will be on Maurizio Sarri’s platter when he comes in at Stamford Bridge. A player like Kante is irreplaceable in the squad as there is no player better than him in the defensive midfield role, so in no way, the Blues should even think of selling the 27-year-old midfielder.
