Celtic are not hopeful about their chances of clinching a deal for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn this summer. According to recent reports, the Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that it would be difficult to bring the Hibs midfielder to Parkhead during this summer transfer period which will be music to the ears of the Gers chiefs if they are still serious about landing the player.
The Bhoys had already tabled two separate bids for the player so far but in vain. However, Rodgers has refused to rule out a third offer for the Scottish prospect. McGinn is about to enter the final year of his contract which is why the Hibs should look to sell him this summer or risk losing him on a free transfer next year.
The Glasgow-born talent had featured in 43 matches at Easter Road, finding the back of the net 6 times while creating 8 assists in all competitions. In a recent interview, Rodgers shed on some light on the situation and was quoted to have said, “I am distant from that, so time will tell.
“That’s something for the clubs to organise. I coach the team, I manage the team. We target players but ultimately any agreements have to be between the two clubs.
“We respect John’s still very much a Hibs player and unless there’s an agreement…like I say, it’s going to be a difficult one. That’s really between the clubs.”
