Liverpool have agreed on a £13.75m deal to secure the signature of Stoke City wide man Xherdan Shaqiri this summer. According to recent reports, the Reds are inching closer towards sealing a move for the Swiss international after agreeing on a fee with the Potters and the player is undergoing a medical right now. The Swiss playmaker has already agreed on personal terms with the Merseyside outfit.
The Stoke playmaker had put in a number of scintillating performances at the Bet365 Stadium last season but his outstanding contributions were not enough for the Staffordshire outfit to avoid the drop. Shaqiri had made 38 appearances for the Potters the last term, scoring 8 goals while creating 7 assists across all competitions. It seems that Jurgen Klopp is ready to bring the Swiss talent to Merseyside ahead of the new season. The 26-year-old has been linked with a number of different clubs in recent weeks but now, it looks like the Reds have won the race to recruit him in this post-season.
The Swiss winger is exactly the kind of talent who has all the attributes to succeed under the expert guidance of Klopp if the Merseyside club manages to land the player in the coming hours. Shaqiri has a knack for scoring and creating important goals which will be an ideal asset for the Reds going into the future.
The Anfield-based outfit managed to attain a hard-fought 4th placed finish in the English top-flight last season. Jurgen Klopp is now hoping to acquire some quality talents during this ongoing window in an effort to build a strong squad capable of challenging on all four competitions in the upcoming campaign.
The addition of Shaqiri will definitely bolster Klopp’s attacking options at Anfield. The Merseyside club has some top-class wingers in their ranks such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who are all vying for a place up top in Klopp’s frontline. The potential acquisition of Shaqiri will undoubtedly improve their squad depth significantly and add more competition for places within the Liverpool team.

At 26, the Stoke star still has his best years ahead of him which the Merseyside outfit could look to benefit from, in the next few seasons. The Swiss international is also quite versatile and primarily operates on the right wing but can also feature in the number 10 position or down the left flank which makes him a perfect fit for Klopp’s Reds. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Shaqiri and whether his move to Anfield turns out to be a success.
