Real Madrid have the knack of stealing headlines, even in the off-season. While the whole world is busy with the World Cup, Los Blancos announced that Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo will join Italian giants Juventus this summer. This was after the Spanish side revealed Julen Lopetegui as their new manager, even as he was getting ready to take Spain into the group stages of the FIFA competition.
However, they do not seem to be done attracting attention this transfer window as reports now suggest that they could be on the verge of losing yet another first-team star in Gareth Bale.
The Welsh international, who established himself on the world stage with Tottenham Hotspur, now stands as a crucial part of the squad at Bernabeu, that won three back to back UCL titles. He is also the talisman of the Welsh national side and is one of the most decorated wingers in the modern game.
He has often come off the bench, producing moments of magic, like he did in the Champions League final in Kyiv earlier this year. However, he got just 20 league starts last season and has been vocal about the lack of playing time in Madrid. He did register 20 goals in all competitions and at just 29, has a fair number of years at his best, left in his career.
He has four years left on his current deal but has extensively been linked with an exit, with Manchester United looking the most likely destination. Reports now claim that the Red Devils have opened talks over his signature, which are fuelled by Sky Sports’ latest report, that claims that Bale will address his future at the club, with the Real Madrid officials in the upcoming days.
With great skill and experience at the highest level, Bale is a no-brainer for Manchester United, at whatever price he is available but can Real Madrid lose Bale, days after they have lost Ronaldo?
Zinedine Zidane did not spend big last season, so Real Madrid have funds to work with, but Bale’s sale will give them an opportunity to start from scratch. They cannot expect a single player to replicate what Ronaldo did in his time at La Liga so will have to spend on two marquee signings, which will be the case, even if Bale leaves.
The Welsh international has no real chance of turning into the next Ronaldo at Real Madrid, as Florentino Perez will be desperate to replace him adequately. So Bale’s situation at Bernabeu has not changed with Ronaldo’s exit. So it might be best for him to quit the club this summer.

Real Madrid can always attract players who can replace even the best in the game and the price United will pay for Bale will surely help them replace the 29-year old next season. So Manchester United signing Gareth Bale might be a decent move for all parties.
