Stoke City are plotting a move for Liverpool wide man Sheyi Ojo this summer. According to recent reports, the Potters are hoping to secure the services of the English youngster during this summer transfer period. It is believed that Ojo is one of the names in Gary Rowett’s list of summer transfer targets as the Reds starlet awaits his short-term fate at Merseyside.
The 21-year-old put in an outstanding showing in a pre-season match versus Tranmere Rovers when he scored one and set up another in Liverpool’s narrow 3-2 victory over the Birkenhead-based outfit. Ojo also managed to help Fulham secure a promotion back to the Premier League while on loan at Craven Cottage last season but his time in London was plagued with injuries.
The Liverpool prospect is now hoping to impress Klopp to earn a place in his first-team at Anfield. However, it might very well be that he is still far off from making a significant impact in Klopp’s senior squad and will need time to improve his game before taking the step up to the next level.
Hence, a move to the bet365 Stadium might benefit Ojo as he will earn more first-team opportunities under Gary Rowett which will help him improve as a winger. In a recent interview with the Reds official website, the English wide man addressed his future and was quoted to have said, “From as soon as I finished my loan spell at Fulham – obviously, it was a good loan spell – I was just focused on coming back and trying to be as sharp as I can so I can impress the manager.
“I’m feeling really fit and really positive and the games are going well so far so I’m excited for what’s to come.
“Personally, I haven’t spoke to the manager yet but it’s been positive feedback in training so far and I’m just really looking forward to the rest of the pre-season.
“Hopefully I can keep impressing.”
The Potters had to go through the nightmare of being relegated from the top tier of English football last season. Rowett needs to sign some fresh faces in this ongoing transfer market if his team are serious about bouncing back and having a strong campaign in the English Championship.
The potential acquisition of Ojo will undoubtedly bolster Rowett’s attacking options at the bet365 Stadium. Stoke City have some top-class wingers such as Xherdan Shaqiri and Ibrahim Afellay vying for a place in their starting XI. The addition of Ojo will definitely improve their team and add more competition for places within the Potters squad.

It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Ojo and whether he ends up plying his trade at Staffordshire before the start of the new season.
