Rangers have been up and running under their new manager Steven Gerrard in the transfer market as they have made one massive coup after another. Solving their defence was one of the topmost priority for the club as they had conceded the most number of goals in the league for any of the top seven sides last season. Even though they did manage to score the most goals in the league, it came to nothing as they saw Celtic dominated the Scottish Premiership.
They have made some major signings by getting Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson who can play in a centre-back role. However, they seem to be wanting more as they have been linked with impressive Millwall defender Jake Cooper who has played a crucial role for the Lions in their rise in English football.
Having qualified to the Championship by winning the League One playoffs in 2016-17, Millwall came extremely close to qualifying for the playoffs even in the Championship as they finished 8th and missed the sixth spot by just three points. In all that, Cooper played a massive role for his side by starting week in week out in the heart of the defence. He had made 42 appearances in all competitions and even managed to get on the scoresheet four times.
Reports suggest that the two clubs have been in talks for quite some time now and the Gers will make a new improved £3m offer for the centreback to lure him to the Ibrox. Teddy Bears have also parted ways with their veteran Portuguese defender Bruno Alves so Cooper could be a younger and abler replacement for him. The 6ft 5 inches defender has represented England at the youth level. He started off quite late as a footballer as he joined Reading’s academy when he was 14. However, slowly he has picked up his game and is currently the heart and soul of Millwall’s defence.
This could be Gerrard’s 10th acquisition in the transfer market and it very much looks like the Gers are not holding back this time around to challenge their rivals Celtic. They might have an untested manager in Gerrard, but his influence in the footballing world is unparalleled and that has brought a lot of positivity around the club.

The key here is getting all these players to gel together in the system which will give them the desired results. Signing Cooper will once again be a massive coup as he has all the facets to his game to be successful in the Scottish Premiership.
