Newcastle United have got a major boost in the transfer market as they have sealed the deal for Chelsea winger Kenedy for another season on loan at St. James Park. The player spent the second half of last season on loan and highly impressed during his stint at Tyneside. It was expected that the Magpies will go for him again in the transfer market and they have very well done so. Kenedy has completed his medical ahead of his season-long loan at the club.
This is the third signing of the summer for Rafael Benitez as he had earlier secured the likes of Martin Dubravka and Ki Sung-Yueng. The South Korean came for free as his contract had expired with Swansea City and the Magpies have acquired three players for virtually nothing. Benitez will now be looking to add further attacking threat to the team and a striker is considered as an utmost priority for the club at the moment.
Kenedy joined the team in January and had made 13 appearances for the Magpies down the left midfield. The 22-year-old managed a return of two goals and two assists in the last campaign. He might not have set the pitch on fire with his performances but his work rate and tenacity are sure to be applauded by the fans and the board alike.
The Brazilian joined Chelsea from Fluminense in 2015, however, he has struggled to get game time at the Stamford Bridge and this will be his third loan stint since he arrived in London. The 22-year-old is still a work in progress and he still needs to add a lot more quality to his game before he can become a regular at Chelsea.
He has decent pace and dribbling abilities and like all Brazilians, he has a flair to his game. However, he needs to work on his game so that he can be more productive in the final third. He often gets into good positions and doesn’t manage to find the right pass. He also needs to become more of a goal-threat and can certainly improve upon his shot taking and finishing abilities.

Kenedy is not yet a finished product by any stretch of the imagination but he still has age on his side. He has the basic raw talent and maybe now that he has a full season under Rafael Benitez, he can unleash his full potential and have a breakthrough season at St. James Park.
