Boca Juniors have confirmed that their Argentine forward Cristian Pavon has penned a new contract at the club amidst speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal. According to recent reports, the South American star has extended his stay with the Argentine giants putting a dent to the Gunners’ hopes of landing him during this summer transfer period.
It is believed that the Argentine forward has signed a long-term contract which has a €50m release clause. Some sources have already claimed that Boca Juniors will only sanction a big-money move if they are to part ways with their prized asset in the coming weeks.
Pavon was the leading assist maker in the Superliga last season and his outstanding performances did not go unnoticed by other clubs. He also had a productive World Cup campaign for Argentina last month and had featured in all 4 of their matches, until they got knocked out by France in the knockout stages of the competition.
With the Argentine talent set to stay with Boca Juniors, for now, let’s take a look at three alternatives for Unai Emery to consider in this post-season.
Christian Pulisic
The 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund maestro can be considered as one of the most talented young players in European football and the Gunners would do well to prise him away from the Bundesliga. The American sensation is very talented and has incredible potential which is exactly what the North Londoners are craving for, as they look to build towards a bigger and brighter future at the Emirates Stadium. Pulisic had found the back of the net 5 times and provided 7 assists in 42 matches for Dortmund last season.
Leon Bailey
The Bayer 04 Leverkusen playmaker had an outstanding campaign during the course of last season and has lit up the German top-flight with some majestic performances so far. The 20-year-old Jamaican prospect has found the back of the net 12 times and provided 6 assists in 34 matches for the German outfit last season across all competitions. At the tender age of 20, Bailey has all the makings of a future star and Emery’s club can look to capitalise on his immense potential by securing his services this summer.

Hirving Lozano
The versatile Mexican international plies his trade at PSV Eindhoven and had a sensational season last term. The 22-year-old wing wizard has put in some outstanding displays in the Dutch Eredivisie over the last few years.
The Mexican talent had featured in 34 matches for the Dutch giants last season, scoring 19 goals while creating 11 assists in all competitions. Lozano also had a brilliant 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign for Mexico and helped his country seal a route through to the knockout stages of the competition where they were eventually beaten by Brazil. The Eredivisie ace has incredible potential and can develop into a world-beater under the guidance of Emery if the Arsenal boss manages to bring him to North London this summer.
