Reports have emerged over a complete twist in the Jorginho transfer saga to the Premier League. After being heavily linked with Manchester City in the recent past, it has been noted that Chelsea are the ones to have taken the lead in the race for the Italian international’s signature. SSC Napoli had previously turned down a £50m offer from the Citizens and in turn, have received a £53.2m bid from the Blues.
Chelsea fans have also unearthed Jorginho’s social media platform which is connected to the Stamford Bridge outfit rather than the City community. This has led for most of the Blues faithful to speculate upon a nearly confirmed move of the 25-year-old central midfielder.
Jorginho has been a remarkable presence in the Napoli midfield over the past 4 seasons and has highlighted himself as one of the best midfielders in the Serie A. He was a cemented starter under Maurizio Sarri and made 39 total appearances last term.
The former Verona player also netted in 4 goals and 4 assists over the course of the 2017/18 campaign to help Napoli compete against Juventus for the league title.
Unfortunately, I Ciucciarelli could not keep up with the tested veterans and dropped out of the title race in the final weeks of the campaign. While Napoli’s success this past season can be attributed to Sarri’s brilliant footballing style, Jorginho has been the one to implement it from the central locations. The former Verona player has commanded the midfield from the deep anchor role and has been instrumental in linking up the attack with the defensive end.
He has immense talent under those boots and has racked up over 150 appearances for the Little Donkeys. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches tall, Jorginho has an engine like built who delivers on a consistent basis.
The player was born in Santa Catarina, Brazil but is of Italian descent and moved to the European nation when he was a young lad. His family originates from Veneto which helped him gain Italian citizenship at an early age.
Now with 8 caps to his name for the Italian national team, Jorginho is ready to make a lucrative move to the Premier League. With Fernandinho turning 33 this year and Yaya Toure departing the Etihad, Jorginho could have been the perfect fit with the English champions.
