Chelsea fans have been given a boost in morale as their beloved Blues are on the brink of securing the services of Jean Michael Seri. The Ivory Coast midfielder has been linked with the London club and has now decided against travelling with the Nice squad for their upcoming preseason camp. Fulham, West Ham United, Napoli and Sevilla are all reported to be interested in capturing the services of the central midfielder.
Seri is a mainstay in the Nice midfield. He played a vital role in their push for a European spot, however, that was not meant to be as the French side had to settle for an 8th place finish in the Ligue 1 campaign last term. Going on to make 32 appearances for the Eaglets last season, Seri had assisted his teammates 9 times and got on the score sheet with 6 goals to his credit.
Despite his small stature, the Ivorian can boast a successful pass rate of 89.5% and works hard in battling for possession of the ball. He puts his physicality and agility to good use which makes it a tough task for opposition players to snatch the ball off of his feet. However, challenging for aerial duels is a weakness he must work on if he wants to develop as a midfielder.
Better positioning on the field and a few lessons from Ngolo Kante will no doubt help Seri in improving his overall gameplay if he makes the move to Chelsea. He makes an average of 0.9 tackles during a game.
The Chelsea squad are in need of fresh options to partner with Kante in midfield and a player of Seri’s calibre would be welcomed with open arms. The 2017 summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko has failed to win over the faithful at Chelsea with a string of poor performances in the heart of the Blues’ midfield. The Premier League demands a significant amount of hard work and self-belief from it’s players and Bakayoko must be quick to learn of this.
The West London club had a disappointing league and Champions League campaign but made amends for their shortcomings with an FA Cup victory over league rivals Manchester United. It goes without saying that they will look to overcome their shortcomings in the next season and Seri can be a valuable inclusion to their squad.

If Seri was to sign for Chelsea, a Kante-Seri midfield duo would make it tough for opposition players to get control of the ball and run the show in midfield. Chelsea must not let this opportunity slip and would do well to act quickly if they are to welcome Seri to Stamford Bridge.
