Leeds United are eager to seal a loan move for West Ham United striker Jordan Hugill this summer. According to recent reports, the Peacocks are hoping to secure the services of the English frontman during this summer transfer period. It is understood that the new Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season and is keen on signing the Hammers centre-forward.
The current Leeds squad is lacking firepower up front so it only makes sense for them to recruit some forwards in the coming weeks so that they have a strong squad going into the new campaign. Some sources are now claiming that the Peacocks manager has identified Hugill as his ideal choice to lead the lines at Elland Road and is preparing a loan swoop for the striker, who joined the Hammers from Preston North End for £10m during the January transfer window.
However, the West Yorkshire outfit are not the only ones looking to snap him up and will face stiff competition from Queens Park Rangers in pursuit of the Englishman’s signature. The 26-year-old had made a total of 32 appearances while playing for both Preston and West Ham last season, scoring 10 goals while grabbing 2 assists in all competitions.
The Yorkshire giants had only managed to achieve an underwhelming 13th placed finish in the Skybet Championship table last season. Hence, Bielsa is in dire need to make some shrewd signings in this post-season if his side are to compete for a playoff place in the following campaign.
The addition of Hugill will definitely bolster Bielsa’s attacking options at Elland Road. Leeds have some top-class forwards in their ranks such as Tyler Roberts, Caleb Ekuban and Hadi Sacko vying for a starting berth in Bielsa’s playing XI. The potential acquisition of Hugill will undoubtedly improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Peacocks squad.

At 26, the Middlesbrough-born forward still has his best years ahead of him which Leeds could look to utilize in the coming years. The Hammers forward might not be a proven goal-getter at the top level but he has proved his worth in the Championship last season which is why Leeds should go all out to snap him up this summer. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Hugill and whether he ends up sealing a move to Elland Road before the start of the new season.
