Birmingham City have listed their goalkeeper David Stockdale for a transfer this summer amidst interest from Leeds United. According to recent reports, the West Midlands club are willing to let the English goalie leave with the Peacocks eager to make a move for him during this summer transfer period.
The 32-year-old has recently revealed that he has no hard feelings with the Blues manager Garry Monk after being listed as available for a transfer out of the club. He arrived from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer and was a regular feature between the sticks under Monk during the course of last season.
In a recent social media session with the club’s supporters, Stockdale explained why he is leaving the club and stated, “Why does there need to be a reason? The reason is the manager has decided I’m not in his plans.
“No problem. Sometimes it happens and that’s football. Not always because I’ve done something wrong.”
Some sources have recently claimed that the Peacocks are interested in securing the English talent’s services this summer. The Birmingham shot-stopper is a childhood Leeds United supporter but a deal to bring him to Elland Road has failed to materialize so far. Stockdale had featured in 39 matches for the Blues last season, conceding 58 goals while keeping 7 clean sheets in all competitions.
The West Yorkshire side are in need of some injection of quality in this ongoing transfer window if they are to challenge on all fronts and compete for a top 6 place in the English Championship next term. The addition of Stockdale will undoubtedly bolster Bielsa’s goalkeeping options at Elland Road. He is exactly the kind of talent who will add some much-needed experience to the Leeds squad as they look to improve on their league performance in the upcoming season.
Leeds only has one promising young keeper in their ranks in Bailey Peacock-Farrell who is in line to start in Bielsa’s first XI. The potential acquisition of Stockdale will definitely improve their team significantly and add some more competition for places within the Peacocks squad.

At 32, the English goalie still has a few years left in him to play at a high level which the West Yorkshire outfit could look to benefit from, in the next few years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Stockdale and whether he ends up sealing a move to Elland Road before the start of the new season.
