Latest reports suggest that Everton are looking to move for RB Leipzig attacker, Emil Forsberg this summer. The 26-year-old, who signed a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit recently, is expected to be worth around £25m-£30m in the current market. He was previously targeted by the Toffees even before the appointment of Marco Silva but now, the Portuguese boss is ready to make a concrete approach.
Forsberg is one of the best players in the Leipzig ranks and has a contract set to run until the summer of 2022. Other than scoring 5 and creating 4 assists, he has been lighting up the international stage by serving his country in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Swede was on display against England last night but unfortunately could not help his nation progress to the semi-final stage of the competition. He was prolific in the group stages and scored the only goal against Switzerland to help his side to the quarter-finals.
Forsberg has played a key role in Leipzig’s rise to stardom in top-flight of German football. Ralph Hasenhüttl relied on him heavily to be the driving factor of the club’s offense. The 26-year-old was delegated with most of the creative responsibilities and he delivered on a consistent basis.
Forsberg can command the midfield with his exceptional technical abilities and vision to set up his teammates. His versatility allows him to feature from the wings as seen in the previous season.
He grew up in the youth ranks of Swedish club, GIF Sundsvall and later switched to the highly prestigious Malmo FF. He made 84 appearances for the latter before arriving at the Red Bull Arena in Saxony.
Forsberg almost draws comparisons to some of the best-attacking midfielders in Europe – Christian Eriksen and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. He likes to be more involved with the ball and can hit a dead ball accurately from close range.
With Wayne Rooney making his switch to DC United, Forsberg is the prime talent Everton need to sign as a potential replacement. They are wary over the prospects of Gylfi Sigurdsson who plays in the same position as Forsberg but has struggled to meet expectations so far.

The Iceland international could not really operate from his preferred number ten position last season under Sam Allardyce which somehow affected his game. Now, Forsberg will able to fill in with a similar type of skill set but will also provide a whole lot more going forward in Silva’s first-team.
