Leeds United left-back Tyler Denton has sealed a loan move to Peterborough United as the club looks to revamp their squad under their new manager Marcelo Bielsa ahead of the new season.
Denton went out on loan at Port Vale to play for the League Two outfit in the first half of last season but his time was cut short in January due to family reasons. It was reported that Italian club Brescia, managed by ex-Leeds owner Massimo Cellino, were keeping tabs on Denton earlier in this summer.
However, the English defender, who has featured in just one match for the Leeds first-team, was reluctant to move to Italy and instead, opted for a switch to Peterborough and link up with former Leeds manager Steve Evans.
The Peacocks only managed to grind out an underwhelming 13th placed finish in the Championship last season. Hence, Marcelo Bielsa needs to improve his squad significantly and make some shrewd additions during this ongoing transfer period if they want to compete for a promotion spot in the upcoming campaign.
Retaining some of their best talents could go a long way in helping Leeds close the gap to some of the other promotion contenders and earn a place back in the English top tier. However, the temporary departure of Denton wouldn’t affect their squad too much going into the new season as the West Yorkshire outfit has good depth in that defensive department.
Denton will definitely benefit from a move to Peterborough United as he looks to earn more first-team opportunities to help him take his game to the next level. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of the English fullback and whether his time at the League One side turns out to be a success.
