Quick with his feet, composed on the ball and has a sweet right foot, Jack Grealish looks set to start his climb to the summit of professional football. At just 22 years, he is starting to impress both critics and fans alike.
The London outfit Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be keen on capturing the signature of the attacking midfielder. Aston Villa are said to be holding out for nothing less than £30m for the England Under-21 international but they know they must sell to ensure compliance with the FFP. Just recently, Tony Xia, the Aston Villa CEO has admitted that they must do player transfers in order to comply with FFP.
Grealish would not have trouble adjusting to the Premier League‘s style of play. He does need to step-up his efforts if he is to adjust himself to the way Tottenham play their football as there is a vast difference between playing for Aston Villa and playing the fast-paced Spurs way.
Having a player of Grealish’s calibre on the team is something any manager would be proud to claim. The England youth player helped Aston Villa to a 4th place finish to their EFL Championship campaign thus securing a spot in the playoffs, only to fall flat at the final hurdle and handing over their Premier League aspirations to eventual winners Fulham.
He is strong on the ball and has the ability to run past defenders, which is a joy to watch. He can pass the ball well and is not afraid to shoot from distance if given the chance. Grealish, however, must get his name on the score sheet more often if he is to increase his credibility.
Tottenham had a fine season last time around when they secured a top three finish but obtaining silverware to show for their hard work is their main aim. That’s something which Mauricio Pochettino’s team lack at the moment.
The signing of Grealish would only go on to strengthen their team and give them an added advantage in their quest to be crowned Champions of England. Playing alongside Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen at the heart of the Spurs midfield would help Jack improve as a player. Moving to a big club like Tottenham would only benefit the young midfielder. It will be interesting to see how Pochettino plans to use young Grealish and which position he deploys him in.
