Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain is set to stay at Turin amidst speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea this summer. According to recent reports, the Argentine forward’s agent has rubbished all the rumours linking his client with a move out of the Juventus Stadium and has revealed that he will stay in Italy.
This latest development will be a huge blow for the Blues as they were looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. Some sources have recently claimed that the West Londoners were eager to make a move for the Argentine international but they will now have to look somewhere else in search of a world-class forward.
Higuain has been in terrific form for Juve over the last few seasons and can be considered as one of the best strikers on the planet. However, he had a disappointing World Cup campaign with his national team, Argentina, and had to suffer the agony of being knocked out in the round of 16 by France.
His agent and brother Nicolas Higuain addressed the Argentine’s future and was quoted to have said, “At the moment we haven’t spoken to any other clubs, as we have a three-year contract with Juventus.
“He is very happy in the city, at the club, with the coach [Massimiliano Allegri] and the tactical system.
“Everyone knows his rapport with Sarri is wonderful and he sees him as a football father.
“But as far as I know, Sarri hasn’t even signed for Chelsea yet.
“Secondly, Gonzalo is happy in Turin so I see no real chance of leaving.”
The Blues had an underwhelming campaign last term when they only managed to finish 5th in the league table. The London giants need to acquire some top-class players in this window if they are to challenge on all fronts next season.
The addition of Higuain would have definitely bolstered their attacking options at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have the likes of Alvaro Morata, Olivier Giroud, Michy Batshuayi, Eden Hazard and Lucas Piazon vying for a place in their starting XI. The potential acquisition of Higuain would have undoubtedly improved their team significantly and added more competition for places within the Blues squad.

Hence, the English outfit should need to do everything in their power to lure the Argentine sensation to Stamford Bridge this summer. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Higuain and whether he ends up making a switch out of Turin before the start of the new season.
