Wolves are interested in securing the services of Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro this summer. According to recent reports, the West Midlands club are monitoring the situation of the Italian talent at the Turin club ahead of a potential move during this summer transfer period.
However, they are not the only ones looking to recruit him and will face stiff competition from Leicester City, Newcastle United, West Ham United and Southampton who are all looking to snap up the Italian midfielder before the start of the new season. Some sources have recently claimed that the Magpies are currently leading the chase to sign Sturaro with the player’s agent backing those reports and also suggesting that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are on the hunt for his client’s signature as well.
In a recent interview, the Italian player’s agent, Carlo Volpi was quoted to have said, “Not just Newcastle are in for him, but other clubs as well,”
“Who? Ah, you know, for sure, Wolverhampton and Southampton have had a little thought about him too.”
Sturaro had made 19 appearances for Juve last season across all competitions but failed to register a single goal during the campaign. Hence, a move to the Molineux might do his confidence a world of good as he could thrive under the expert guidance of Nuno Santo at the West Midlands club.
Wolves managed to book their ticket back to the English top-flight last season when they won the Skybet Championship title. However, Nuno Santo needs to bring in some quality players this summer so that his side can avoid relegation in the upcoming campaign.
The potential acquisition of Sturaro will undoubtedly bolster Santo’s midfield options going into the new season. The West Midlands club has a whole host of midfield talents such as Rúben Neves, Romain Saïss, Morgan Gibbs-White and Pedro António Pereira Gonçalves competing for a midfield place in their first-team. The addition of Sturaro will definitely improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Wolves squad.

Santo’s team could use more creativity and invention from midfield so signing the Italian talent would go a long way in helping them compete with the Premier League‘s big teams. The 25-year-old has shown during his spell at the Juventus Stadium that he can be a good squad player which is exactly what the doctor ordered at Wolves. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Sturaro and whether he ends up plying his trade at the Molineaux Stadium next season.
