As per latest reports, Arsenal are set to lose out on the signing of Brazilian winger Malcom who has been linked with the Gunners since the January transfer window. He currently plies his trade for Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux and is likely to join Italian giants Inter Milan. The reports suggest that the Serie A outfit are tabling a €10m bid for a season-long loan deal. They will look to make the move permanent with an option to buy at €30m.
Inter Milan managed to finish in the top 4 and will be looking to re-establish themselves as a European heavyweight once again. Meanwhile, Arsenal will be starting a new chapter under Unai Emery after the Spaniard took over the club and succeeded Arsene Wenger.
The pressure will be on the former Sevilla manager to deliver the goods in the upcoming season. He needs to bring in more reinforcements and add some quality to his squad if they are to challenge for a position in the top 4 and signing a winger is certainly one of the topmost priority for the club. However, it seems like the London outfit are going to miss the bus to sign Malcom and that could come as a body blow to the new manager.
The 21-year-old had made 35 appearances in the league last season and managed 12 goals and 7 assists. He will be one of the most sought-after wingers in the market and Arsenal will need to look at other plausible options to replace him if they fail to land Malcolm. We look at three possible alternatives they can go after.
Cristian Pavon
The Argentine is just 22 and played a part in Argentina’s World Cup run in Russia. He went on to have an average tournament but did go on to show some spark of his capability. The Gunners are linked with him and the 22-year-old can be a good option to have down the right wing.
Ante Rebic
Another one of the World Cup stars who has shone into the limelight after an impressive run of games in Russia. Rebic currently plays for Frankfurt and he seems to have all the facets to his game to succeed at the top level. He had managed to score 9 goals and make 3 assists for them in 28 encounters and the Croatian seems destined for big things.
