Chelsea custodian Thibaut Courtois has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid and the ‘Big Belgian’ has claimed that he has a ‘certain preferred destination‘ in his mind and one feels that the Galacticos can certainly be the one. Ever since the end of the season, the rumours have been hot that Courtois will part ways with the Blues and he has clearly indicated in his interviews that he is not keen on being part of the squad at Stamford Bridge.
Real Madrid have a decent option in Keylor Navas but the Costa Rican has often been criticised for not being good enough for the biggest club in the world. He has been part of various Champions League triumphs and the 31-year-old has bailed Los Blancos quite a few times with some heroic displays. However, he often has one or two mistakes in his game which has cost his team dearly.
His possible replacement, Courtois, was asked about his future recently and he replied,”I have a certain preferred destination. I have some ideas in my mind, but I’m focusing on the World Cup and have pushed all decisions ahead until after the tournament. My kids are the most important for me. I haven’t seen them a lot in the last 18 months. Facetime is nice, but seeing them grow up is something different. My kids will play an important role in my decision.”
The 26-year-old managed 19 clean sheets in all competitions last season and has been an important player for the Blues in the last few years. He arrived at the club in 2011 but made his name slowly while playing for Atletico Madrid on loan. Later, the Blues decided to push him into the first-team and went on to part ways with Petr Cech.
Real Madrid have been unbelievable in European competitions as they managed to pull off three Champions League title triumphs in a row. However, they will like to end Barcelona‘s domination in the domestic league and will look to have a better season as they finished 17 points behind their arch rival in the last campaign.

Courtois has kept 146 clean sheets in his career and is quite mobile around the goal area given his frame and size. He is still just 26 and can take his game a notch higher. The Belgian can be a great long-term option for Real Madrid if they manage to get their man. However, Los Blancos are also said to be in the race to sign Alisson Becker from AS Roma so it will be interesting to see who they will go after in the summer.
