Everton have stepped up their pursuit of Celtic fullback Kieran Tierney this summer. According to recent reports, the Toffees are pushing to get a deal done for the Scottish defender during this summer transfer window. It is understood that Marco Silva’s side will inquire about the Hoops’ asking price for the Scottish talent this week amidst speculation linking the player with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Some sources are now claiming that the Everton boss has identified Tierney as a priority signing and has a budget of £25m to get the deal done. However, they are not the only ones looking to recruit the 21-year-old with Spurs, Wolves and Bournemouth all keeping tabs on his situation at Celtic Park.
Tierney had put in some solid displays at the back for the Bhoys during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs. The Scottish talent had made 55 appearances under Brendan Rodgers last term, scoring 4 goals while grabbing 11 assists across all competitions.
The youngster is exactly the kind of talent who can thrive under the expert guidance of Marco Silva at Goodison Park. He will be a great long-term replacement for Everton left-back Leighton Baines which is why the Blues of Merseyside should go all out to snap him up this summer.
The Toffees had to endure a gruelling domestic campaign last season and could only manage to conjure up an 8th placed finish in the league standings. Marco Silva would now look to make some quality additions to his squad this summer in an effort to improve his team’s chances of competing with the big boys of the Premier League next term.
The potential acquisition of Tierney will undoubtedly bolster Silva’s defensive options at Goodison Park. The Merseysiders have some talented full-backs in their squad which include Leighton Baines, Séamus Coleman, Cuco Martina and Jonjoe Kenny competing for a place in Silva’s starting XI. If the Toffees can successfully lure Tierney to Merseyside this summer, it will definitely improve their defence significantly and add more competition for places within Silva’s squad.

The Scottish wonderkid is also quite versatile and primarily operates as a left-back but can also be deployed on a more advanced role down the left wing or as a centre-half which makes him a perfect fit for Everton. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Tierney and whether he ends up making a switch to England in search of more challenging adventures.
