Fulham are ready to put forth an improved £14m bid for Wolves winger, Ivan Cavaleiro after their initial £12m offer got rejected. The Cottagers are not letting on their pursuit for the 24-year-old attacker who contributed with 9 goals and 13 assists in Wolves’ 2017/18 Championship winning season. Cavaleiro hit a remarkable bit of form this past campaign to draw a lot of eyes from the English sides. He filled up alongside Diogo Jota and Helder Costa in the final third to drive the Wanderers’ offence.
The 2-time Portuguese international moved to Molineux for a then-record fee of £7m from AS Monaco. He is a product of the Benfica youth system but a reject in the senior squad. The attacker featured in 56 of the club’s B side games, racking up 22 goals and 11 assists but was only allowed to take the pitch in 20 for the first team.
He was loaned out to Deportivo La Coruna for the 2014/15 campaign where he was directly involved in 6 goals in as many as 34 appearances. Cavaleiro could hardly make a case for regular selection in the Monaco ranks and was traded away to Wolves a year later.
The road to Premier League recognition has been tough for the Portuguese but he has done remarkably well under Nuno Espirito Santo. He added some much-needed pace and toughness to the club’s attack while also filling in with goals.
Cavaleiro has always been a highly promising prospect with a staggering 53 caps to his name for the Portuguese youth sides, ranging from the U17s to the U21s. He is certainly prepared to take on the challenges of the English top-flight but will it be with the Wanderers?
Fulham, too, have won promotion to the Premier League through the playoffs last season. They are looking to make improvements to the squad in order to avoid relegation. However, the 2018 transfer market is turning out to be a tough nut to crack with no player signings announced yet but two players let go for nothing.
Cavaleiro could be the ideal figure to add some spice to the Lillywhites’ attacking lineup but will be hard to acquire. Not only is the 24-year-old a key figure in the Wolves ranks, the Wanderers must value him over the quoted price from Fulham.

The attacker still has three more seasons left on his current contract and will be heavily relied upon by Santo next term. So a move away from the Molineux might not be on the cards for the Wolves ace.
