Spanish news outlet, OK Dario claims that Real Madrid have reduced Cristiano Ronaldo’s release clause from €1bn (£873m) to €120m (£105m). As per the report, the new clause prevents other Spanish clubs and Paris Saint-Germain from triggering the offer, giving way to the Premier League big guns to take a swipe.
Even though plenty of sides have been linked with the 33-year-old, Manchester United remains the heavy favourites to sign him back this summer. Ronaldo made his name in the United ranks and a fairy tale return is almost customary to end his decorated footballing career.
The Old Trafford wonderboy had departed for the Spanish capital in search of more glory. Having gone toe-to-toe with arguably one of the best players in the history of football and won 5 Ballon d’Ors, 4 Champions League trophies and the Euro Cup with his country, it would be fair to assume that Ronaldo is content at making a prestigious return to Manchester.
He will forever be talked about in the same breath as Pele, Maradona, Johan Cruyff as he has left behind a legacy which almost seems too good to be true. At a veteran age of 33, he still has the trot and the hunger of an academy graduate.
The Portuguese talisman scored 4 goals in the 2018 FIFA World Cup group stages to take his country through to the round of 16s. At 33, he is still at the very peak of his playing career and might just continue to replicate his exploits in the Manchester United ranks.
Some would question, paying £105m for an aged veteran who is seemingly slowing down in terms of his athletic abilities. However the second that Ronaldo misses in a straight sprint, he more than makes up for it with a hattrick when his team needs him the most.
Over the years, the attacker has transitioned his game from that of a skilled winger to that of a prolific forward. He knows exactly how to be effective for his team while taking only limited touches on the ball.
No one in the modern day comes even close to his finishing abilities so Ronaldo could be the ideal figure to lead Manchester United back to Premier League glory.

If Jose Mourinho can find a way to channel the best out of Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford, Ronaldo will be an immediate answer to all of United’s problems on the offensive end.
