BBC reports that Liverpool are ready to part ways with the unsettled striker, Danny Ings. Jurgen Klopp wants to keep the forward in the club but the 25-year-old managed to convince the Reds boss to let him go. In turn, Klopp has shown respect towards Ing’s wishes by not charging an eye-watering price fee, even with the two years left in the striker’s contract.
Even the Reds fan can fell for Ings who has been nothing but miserable during his 3-year Anfield stay. He came into the Merseyside outfit from for £8m in the summer of 2015 and immediately blew out his knee.
Following a frustrating rehabilitation period to fix the ruptured cruciate ligament, he underwent severe cartilage damage keeping out of action for the majority of his Liverpool career.
He could only make 14 Premier League appearances over the past three seasons and was even left out of the squad for the final month of the previous campaign. He came on as a substitute in the quarters and the semis of the UEFA Champions League but was not even considered in the final against Real Madrid.
It is a real shame to see the striker get demoted to such low ranks just on the basis of injury. He entered the Premier League with a lot of enthusiasm in a newly promoted Burnley side.
The Englishman scored 26 times to help the Clarets win promotion and 11 times in his debut Premier League campaign. He totalled 43 goals in 130 appearances for Burnley to earn a call-up from Brendan Rodgers.
Sadly Ings could never fulfil his potential and is currently behind Roberto Firmino and Dominic Solanke in the Liverpool pecking order. Without consistent runs in the first team, it is unlikely that he will be able to return to his scoring form anytime soon.
It is almost imminent for us to entertain the possibility of Ings returning to Burnley this very summer. Sean Dyche is still at charge at Turf Moor and is coming off a terrific Premier League season.
The Lancashire based footballing outfit finished the 2017/18 season in the 7th spot by maintaining as good a defensive record as 4 of the top-six teams. What they could use to improve is more firepower in the upcoming season.
However, Dyche is strongly considering a move for another one of Burnley’s former strikers, Jay Rodriguez from West Brom. He also has able striking heads in Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes.
While Ings’ stance on his future is promising, he might have to consider a transfer away to a different club than his former side.
