Derby County have already made an offer for Peterborough United striker Jack Marriott this summer. According to recent reports, the Rams are interested in securing the services of the League One star during this summer transfer period.
However, they are not the only ones looking to recruit him with Bristol City also keeping tabs on the English centre-forward. Marriott has been previously linked with a switch to Leeds United but a move has failed to materialise so far. The Peacocks need to make a decision on whether to reignite their interest in the League One ace or look for a suitable replacement.
Some sources have recently claimed that both Derby County and Bristol City have tabled bids for the League One golden boot winner. Marriott had made 56 appearances for Peterborough United last season, scoring 33 goals while grabbing 5 assists in all competitions. He is exactly the kind of talent who can add some firepower up front which is why so many clubs are looking to snap him up before the start of the new season.
However, it could be a gamble to sign him as the Beverley-born forward is still unproven at the top level which is why Leeds should give up on him as they can’t afford to take risks if they are serious about mounting a promotion push in the upcoming campaign.
The West Yorkshire outfit had an underwhelming season and could only manage to attain a disappointing 13th place in the English Championship last season. Their new manager, Marcelo Bielsa, needs to reshape his squad by making some smart acquisitions in the ongoing transfer period in order to have a strong squad capable of challenging on all fronts next term.
Having said that, the addition of Marriott will undoubtedly bolster Bielsa’s attacking options at Elland Road. Leeds United have forwards such as Tyler Roberts, Caleb Ekuban and Jay-Roy Grot competing for a place up top in Bielsa’s starting XI. The potential acquisition of Marriott will improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Leeds squad.

At 23, the English forward still has his best years ahead of him which the Peacocks could look to capitalise on, in the near future. For now, Bielsa must decide whether the player is worth the risk or not. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Marriott and whether Leeds reignite their interest in him in the coming months.
