Celtic must be worried regarding the future of their star fullback Kieran Tierney who is constantly being linked with a move away from the club and some Premier League heavyweights are interested in the defender. Clubs like Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will surely turn the head of the youngster and now another club has joined the race to sign the 21-year-old and it is Everton. The Toffees are looking for a new beginning under Marco Silva and according to reports, they have identified Celtic’s fullback Tierney as a long-term replacement for Leighton Baines.
Baines has been with the Merseyside club since 2007 and it seems like he has run his marathon as he failed to make himself available last season due to various injuries. The veteran made 22 appearances in the Premier League and missed a good chunk of the season. Silva will need an able replacement for him as he cannot solely rely on the former England International and Brendan Rodgers will be dreading to know that they have identified his side’s star fullback as a replacement.
Tierney is just 21 but has already made his name playing for the Hoops and he can be considered as one of the fan favourites due to his playing style. Tierney is a tough tackling fullback and is not shy of going into 50-50 challenges. He is good when going forward as well and a testament for it will be his 11 assists last season and even scored 4 goals in all competitions.
The youngster has even gone on to represent his country and is one of the brightest talents to come out from Scotland in recent times. Tierney made his Celtic debut in 2015 under Ronny Deila and he soon became a cemented starter in his breakthrough season as he displaced the more experienced Emilio Izaguirre as a first choice left back.
The player has been crowned PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year for three seasons in a row now and he is currently indispensable in Brendan Rodgers’ setup.

A move to the Premier League will certainly be tempting and will be more challenging for the youngster. Not to mention, a move to England will come with better financial benefits, which will certainly appeal to any 21 year old. Tierney is destined for big things and it is highly unlikely that he will stay long length of his career with Celtic. However, Rodgers will hope that he is able to eek out at least one more year out of him at Celtic Park.
