Leeds United manager, Marcelo Bielsa is looking to raid the Manchester City camp, making use of the Guardiola connection, for four players on loan deals. Among the targeted few is Angus Gunn, a goalkeeper who spent the previous season at his hometown with Norwich City.
The 22-year-old shot-stopper is being targeted by Southampton as well. The Saints are lining up a £15m bid but will not be able to guarantee first-team football. Leeds on the other hand, are strained for a number one option after the departure of Felix Wiedwald last week. The German could not meet the required standards at Elland Road and has been signed by Eintracht Frankfurt.
With the summer window already upon us, it would be wise to pen down at least one competent figure in between the sticks. The past season had been a horror show as far as promotion to the Premier League is concerned. Bielsa has been tasked to achieve the same in the coming season and will need the right players to do so. He is highly admired by Pep Guardiola, who has previously lauded the Argentinian boss as the best coach in world football.
The Citizens already have Ederson and Claudio Bravo in the goalkeeping position and would not mind having one of their youngsters sent away on loan. Gunn is in search of regular first-team football and the managerial connection looks more than favourable to sanction a move away to West Yorkshire.
The 22-year-old made a staggering 51 appearances for Norwich last season and registered 16 clean sheets to his name. He developed himself in the Canaries youth ranks but later signed with City in 2011.
He has not featured for Manchester City’s senior team so far but does have 40 appearances and 6 clean sheets to his name for the club’s U23 side. Gunn also has been capped 27 times for the England youth sides, ranging from the U16s to the U21s.
Standing at 6 feet 5 inches, he has all the right attributes to become a top professional in the Premier League. He has proved himself in the Championship last term and could enjoy another rewarding period with Leeds United if they make a serious run for the playoff spots. Not only will he be furthering his development as a player, playing for a title challenging side will give him the platform to showcase his talents.

Pep Guardiola might be forced to consider him for at least a backup option at the Etihad.
