Norwich City are in desperate need of attacking talent after they have parted ways with two of their very key young players. James Maddison has gone on to join Leicester City for a big money move and even Josh Murphy has joined Cardiff City. Those two departures are surely going to make things tough for Daniel Farke and he needs to utilize the funds which they got by selling those players in the next month.
The Canaries are currently being linked with a move for Chelsea‘s u-23 attacking midfielder Kasey Palmer. The youngster had spent last season on loan with Derby County and he made 15 appearances for them in the second half of the season. He failed to get regular playing time and most of his appearances came from the bench. He contributed with 2 goals and one assist and it seems like Norwich City have zeroed in on the Englishman to replace James Maddison who played in the No. 10 role.
The midfielder started his career with Charlton Athletic and later went on to join Premier League heavyweights Chelsea in 2013. Since then he has failed to break into Chelsea’s first team and has been plying trade for their u-23 side. He also has had loan spells with Huddersfield Town and did decently for the Terriers.
Apart from the Canaries, there are quite a few other clubs who have been linked with the England u-21 international and Norwich will have to fight to get their target. Derby County’s new manager Frank Lampard is also in talks over a possible return to Pride Park even though he had an average loan spell with them last season.
The Canaries finished 14th and a lot was expected of a side who were in the Premier League not so long ago. They look far from challenging for a playoff spot and the exits of two of their most creative players are going to leave a big hole in the side. The pressure will certainly mount on Daniel Farke and he needs to find a solution to replace Maddison and Murphy.

Palmer has represented England at various youth levels and he is also adept in playing down the flanks. He has good pace and can go past his players but he needs to add more goalscoring threat to his game if he wants to be successful at the top level. Only time will tell whether he will be able to replace the 15 goals and 11 assists which Maddison provided last season if Palmer goes on to play at Carrow Road.
