Bournemouth are close to securing the signature of David Brooks and as per latest reports, the Sheffield United midfielder will have a medical soon with the Cherries. The 20-year-old is a product of Manchester City‘s academy and he was with the Citizens for a decade from 2004-2014.
To get regular playing time, the Welsh international moved from the Premier League heavyweights to join Championship outfit Sheffield United where he has gone on to establish himself as a first-team regular. Brooks has represented England at the u-20 level but opted to play for Wales later. In 2017, he made his senior debut for Wales when he came on as a substitute against France.
Eddie Howe will be looking to add more talented players to his roster and Brooks will certainly bring good competition for places in the side. The deal is said to be worth £12m and that is certainly a good amount to pay for a 20-year-old. It seems like the manager is impressed with what Brooks has to offer as he looks to make Bournemouth a much-improved side in the upcoming season.
Brooks is an attacking midfielder and can even play in the role of a secondary striker. He was regular for the Blades last season as he made 33 appearances in all competitions and mustered up 3 goals and 6 assists. The numbers might not be great given the position he plays in but he surely has some talent and with the experience of some top-flight football, he can certainly flourish in the near future.
He signed a new deal in last autumn which was set to keep him at the club until 2021, however, the Cherries made an offer which Sheffield couldn’t refuse and they decided to cash in on the player by selling him.
Eddie Howe has slowly gone on to establish Bournemouth as a Premier League regular without compromising on his extravagant style of play. He will look to continue the good work in the upcoming season and he is already making some good moves in the transfer market.

If one looks at the current Bournemouth side, there aren’t too many creative midfielders and they are largely dependent on their forwards to find a way for themselves. Signing a no. 10 seems to be a necessity for Howe and he seems to have gone on to bring Brooks at the Vitality Stadium. However, Premier League will be a stern test for the youngster and it remains to be seen whether he can cope up at the top level.
