Cardiff City are successful in sealing a move for Bristol City attacking midfielder Bobby Reid this summer. According to recent reports, the Robins star has penned down a four-year-long deal at the Welsh club after the two clubs managed to reach an agreement over a transfer for the English talent.
Some sources are now claiming that the Bluebirds have agreed on a £10m deal with Bristol City for the acquisition of their prized player. The 25-year-old had a terrific campaign and put in a number of match-winning performances at Ashton Gate during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs. His contributions for the Robins last season saw him being named in the PFA Championship team of the year.
Neil Warnock’s side has wasted no time and has managed to agree on a deal to bring the player to the Cardiff City Stadium before the start of the new season. Reid had featured in 52 matches for the Robins last season, scoring 21 goals while grabbing 8 assists across all competitions.
The Bristol-born midfielder’s contract with the Skybet Championship outfit was set to run out in the summer of 2019 which is why the club has decided to part ways with him this summer rather than risk losing him for free next year. He is exactly the kind of talent who can help the Bluebirds cope with life in the top tier of English football.
Warnock’s side had managed to clinch a second-place finish in the English Championship last term but they need to make some shrewd additions in this ongoing transfer period so that they are well-equipped to challenge in the English top-flight next season.
The acquisition of Reid will undoubtedly bolster Warnock’s midfield options at the Cardiff City Stadium. The Bluebirds already have the likes of Aron Gunnarsson, Joe Ralls, Anthony Pilkington, Kadeem Harris and Loïc Damour competing for a place in their first-team. The addition of Reid will improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within Warnock’s squad.
However, Reid has dished out his best performance whenever used up front. Last season, the Robins used him as a shadow striker to beef up the offence on a number of occasions and his goal tally shows what he can do when handed the right opportunity. So there is a possibility that Neil Warnock might use him as an attacking option as well.

At 25, the English midfielder still has his best years ahead of him which the Welsh outfit could look to benefit from, in the next few years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Reid and whether he will be able to carry his dazzling form of the last term over to the top flight.
