Arsenal have begun their new era under Unai Emery after Arsene Wenger stepped down from the top job after more than two decades of service. The Spanish tactician is wasting no time and has already made some valuable acquisitions in the transfer market. They have secured the signing of Bernd Leno and Stephan Lichtsteiner and now they are being linked with a move for Real Madrid‘s winger Lucas Vazquez.
The Spaniard is currently with his national team in Russia for the World Cup, however, just like his club, he is struggling to get regular game time in a star-studded Spain lineup. Vazquez has been with Real Madrid since 2007 and has slowly gone on to graduate towards the first team.
After addressing the problem at the back Emery seems to have recognized that the Gunners are in desperate need of firepower in the wings department. Apart from Alex Iwobi, Arsenal doesn’t have a natural winger in their squad and signing a wide man should be a topmost priority for the Gunners in the ongoing transfer market.
With the Los Blancos, he has become a squad player and has even started in the right-back role last season. One can understand why he didn’t get much game time as he is fighting for a place with the likes of Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio.
The winger managed 53 appearances in all competitions but quite a lot of those appearances came from the bench. However, he did go on to showcase his talent and abilities when he had the chance as he managed 8 goals and 16 assists.
The Gunners have often used Pierre Emerick Aubameyang down the wings when Alexandre Lacazette has started up front and signing an outright winger can be considered as the need of the hour of Emery. The pressure will be on the new gaffer to deliver the goods as he looks to reinvigorate this side after they failed to finish in the top 4 last season.
Vazquez is quite skilful and is adept at going past the defenders. His link-up play is strong and one feels that he will fit in right away in the Arsenal team if he adjusts to English football and conditions.

Vazquez might not be getting game time at Real Madrid as one expects but he certainly seems to be in the plans at Santiago Bernabeu. Arsenal will have to make a substantial offer to land the Spanish winger and only time will tell whether the 26-year-old will make a switch to England.
