Liverpool are plotting a move to bring ex-Manchester City striker Bobby Duncan to Anfield this summer. According to recent reports, the Citizens youngster has confirmed his exit from the Manchester club with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds eyeing a move for his signature during this summer transfer period.
Duncan, who is Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard’s cousin, is eager to make a fresh start somewhere else after failing to agree to terms on a new contract at the Etihad Stadium. Some sources are now claiming that Anfield could be his most likely destination with the Reds currently in pole position to land the player in this post-season. The 17-year-old failed to feature for City last year after falling out with the club over a contract offer. However, despite not making a single appearance at the club level, the Liverpool-born starlet represented his country, England regularly at the Under-17 level.
In 2016, Duncan put in an eye-catching display while on international duty when he bagged a hat-trick for the Three Lions in an under-16 international match versus Brazil. The English wonderkid confirmed his Manchester City exit on social media which stated, “It’s Been an Amazing 6 Years at Manchester City.
“It Was a Difficult Decision For Me And My Family But The Time is Right For a New Challenge And to Fulfil My Dreams And Potential Elsewhere.
“I Want to Thank Everyone at Manchester City. The Coaches, Staff, Players Who Have Contributed Into My Development Throughout My Time at The Club.
“I Move on With Many Special Memories…. Thank You!!!!”
Duncan is free to join any club of his choosing with Liverpool being tipped to seal a move for him. However, the Merseyside club would need to pay £200,000 as compensation to City which should not be a big stumbling block for Klopp’s team.
The addition of Duncan will undoubtedly bolster Klopp’s attacking options in the future but for now, he needs to keep his head down and gain as much experience as possible at a high level. The Reds already have the likes of Rhian Brewster and Harry Wilson in their youth ranks. The potential acquisition of Duncan could add more competition for places within the Liverpool youth squad and improve their team significantly ahead of the new season.

At 17, the English centre-forward still has a lot of time to develop his game and take a step up to the next level. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Duncan and whether he ends up making a switch to Merseyside before the start of the new season.
