Wolves have been offered £1.25m by Millwall for the services of Ben Marshall which broke their own transfer record. The winger himself prefers a move to the Den after settling in remarkably well during his loan spell away from the Molineux in the second half of the 2017/18 season.
Marshall had to make the temporary switch due to a lack of playing time at West Midlands. Just 304 minutes at this juncture of his career is not ideal for the 27-year-old and a transfer out of the Wanderers is in the best interest of both parties.
The Englishman really came onto his own with the Lions the last term, scoring thrice and setting up 5 assists. Once a player in the Manchester United youth ranks, Marshall has undergone a gruelling challenge at establishing himself inside the realms of English football.
Even after signing a 3-year contract with Stoke City, he never got to appear for the club’s senior side and was mostly sent away on loan to lower-division sides.
Marshall finally got the chance to shine with Leicester City in the 2011/12 season and went on to appear in 61 of the club’s games, scoring 9 and assisting 18. Right after that very season, he was sold off to Blackburn Rovers where he impressed aplenty over the next 4 years. Paul Lambert singled out the 27-year-old to high praises and brought him to the Molineux in January 2017.
However, with Nuno Santo taking over the managerial seat at the Molineux, the prospects of Marshall ever playing for the club’s first team has diminished to shocking lengths. The Wanderers has embarked on a monstrous spending spree and are ready to take on the Premier League in the upcoming season.
Top quality young talent like Diogo Jota has made his way into the club and have cemented a starting spot under the Portuguese manager. Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa are also favoured by Santo who is looking to further bolster the attacking lineup.
At 27, players usually enjoy the peak of their footballing careers and spending those golden years as a benchwarmer is not the right fit for Marshall. At least at the Den, he will enjoy regular first team football and will be given a chance to prove himself yet again.

A move would be ideal for all parties involved. Wolves will benefit from the transfer amount and the Lions could make an improved run for promotion next term.
