According to latest reports, Fulham have taken a considerable interest in Croatian defender, Domagoj Vida. The 29-year-old’s resolute performances for his country in the 2018 FIFA World Cup has drawn the eyes of a number of Premier League outfits. The Lillywhites have just earned back promotion to the English top-flight after a 4-year absence and are prepared to make the necessary investments to save a spot away from the relegation zone.
Vida could be the leading man at the back with the amount of experience he has racked up in Europe over the years. The centre-back started out in his home country with Osijek and then transferred off to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2010.
He spent just one season with the Bundesliga outfit during which he made 8 UEFA Europa League appearances and just 1 in the league. Dinamo Zagreb picked him up ahead of the 2011/12 season as he went on to make 68 appearances for the side with 8 goals registered to his name.
Even without a prestigious resume of playing in some Europe’s top leagues, Vida has always been heavily involved with his national side. He played 33 games for the youth sides and now has 61 caps with the senior team.
After spending 4 seasons with Dynamo Kiev and making a total of 160 appearances for the club, the 29-year-old signed with Turkish giants, Besiktas last January on a four-and-a-half-year contract.
Vida featured in the side’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 match against Bayern Munich. He did well in the first leg but was sent off in the second. The Croatian is not necessarily one with the hottest head on the pitch but he certainly knows how to hold his head against top attackers.
It is being reported that Leicester City have already placed a €12m bid for the defensive ace in order to place themselves in an advantageous position. The Cottagers will have to make a rivalling offer with just Tim Ream and Marcelo Djalo in the squad as registered centre-backs.
Vida has a versatile bone in his game as well, making him an able figure on the flank positions. Standing at 6 feet tall, the Yugoslavia-born player can take up the spotlight with his last-ditch challenge or by putting his body on the line for an eye-catching block.

He has built up enough top-flight experience to step into Premier League football now. He will definitely be given a prominent role at Craven Cottage and should heavily consider the offer if Fulham ends up making one.
