Cardiff City are plotting a move for Rangers midfielder Josh Windass this summer. According to recent reports, the Bluebirds are interested in securing the signature of the Gers talent during the summer transfer period. It is understood that Neil Warnock’s side are prepared to table a £1.5m bid to bring the Scottish Premiership star to the Cardiff City Stadium.
Some sources have recently claimed that the Welsh club are ready to test Rangers’ resolve by making an opening offer for the English midfielder. However, Steven Gerrard’s team are looking for at least double of the fee that the Bluebirds are set to offer. Windass sealed a move to the Ibrox Stadium from Accrington Stanley on a free transfer in the summer of 2016.
The 24-year-old has put in a number of impressive performances for the Teddy Bears during the course of the last campaign which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs. He had featured in 41 matches for Rangers last term, scoring 18 goals while grabbing 8 assists in all competitions.
Windass is exactly the kind of talent who can flourish under Neil Warnock at the Cardiff City Stadium if given the chance to prove his value in the English top-flight.
The Glaswegian giants had only managed to clinch a disappointing third-place finish in the top tier of Scottish football last season. The appointment of Gerrard has brought a lot of optimism at the Ibrox and now it is up to the young English manager to turn their fortunes for the better.
Retaining some of their top talents like Windass could go a long way in helping them close the gap to their bitter rivals, Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership. Gerrard should do everything in his power to keep hold of the English midfielder as he has the potential to be a future star in European football.

At 24, Windass still has his peak years ahead of him which the Teddy Bears should look to benefit from, in the next few years. However, the lure of the Premier League might be too much for the player which could mean that the Gers have no other option than to part ways with their prized asset.
The Scottish outfit needs to get a fair price for him and use the money generated from his sale to strengthen other areas of their squad. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Windass and whether he ends up sealing a move away from the Ibrox before the start of the new campaign.
