Juventus are prepared to part ways with their Italian midfielder Stefano Sturaro this summer amidst speculation linking him with a move to Newcastle United. According to recent reports, the Serie A giants are eager to sell the Sanremo-born midfielder in an effort to raise some funds for new players.
It is believed that the Turin side are ready to let Sturaro leave if the right offer comes in for the player. However, Newcastle are not the only team being linked with a move for the Italian international. Both Leicester City and West Ham United are also keeping tabs on the midfielder ahead of a potential move in the coming months. It has also been suggested that Juve value Sturaro in the region of €20m and will let him leave if their asking price is met by any of his potential suitors.
Recent reports have also revealed that the Serie A outfit are planning to raise €80m from player sales in this off-season. This recent development will be a big boost for the Magpies as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign. It could turn out to be a shrewd move if they can seal the deal to bring Sturaro to Tyneside this summer.
The Magpies had a gruelling league campaign last term and could only come away with a 10th placed finish in the league standings. However, Rafael Benitez’s side managed to avoid relegation and will now be expected to push on and challenge for a top 7 place in the upcoming campaign.
The potential acquisition of Sturaro will undoubtedly bolster Benitez’s midfield options going into the new season. The Tyneside club has a whole host of midfield talents such as Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, Mohamed Diame, Mikel Merino, Isaac Hayden and Jacob Murphy competing for a midfield place in Benitez’s first-team. The addition of Sturaro will definitely improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Magpies squad.

The Tynesiders lacked creativity and invention from midfield last season and recruiting Sturaro would go a long way in helping Benitez address that issue. The Italian talent has shown during his spell at the Juventus Stadium that he can be a good squad player which is exactly what the doctor ordered at Newcastle. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Sturaro and whether he ends up plying his trade at St. James’ Park next season.
