Newcastle United wide man Yasin Ben El-Mhanni is set to depart the club this summer amidst speculation linking him with a switch to a whole host of clubs. According to recent reports, the Magpies winger will leave St. James’ Park during this summer transfer period after falling victim to bullying and discrimination earlier this year.
The English talent launched an official complaint against the Magpies’ Under-23 coach Peter Beardsley over bullying and discrimination. An independent appeal found Beardsley guilty of those charges and it has also revealed that El-Mhanni was ‘generally unfairly treated’. Some sources are now claiming that the London-born forward will seal a move away from Tyneside this summer in the hopes of reigniting his career somewhere else.
El-Mhanni will be available on a free transfer with a number of English clubs keeping tabs on his situation at Tyneside. The 22-year-old joined Newcastle in the summer of 2016 and made his club debut in the FA Cup third-round victory over Birmingham City in January 2017. He also made an appearance in the next round versus Oxford United. The Magpies wide man has made 11 appearances in the Premier League 2 but was unable to feature in Rafael Benitez’s first-team last season.
Following his unfair treatment at Newcastle, it only seems fair that the player would want a move out of Tyneside to try and resurrect his football career.
The Magpies had a difficult league campaign last term and could only conjure up a 10th placed finish in the league table. However, Rafael Benitez’s team managed to avoid relegation and will now be expected to push on and compete on all fronts in the upcoming season.
Retaining some of their top talents could go a long way in helping them improve in the next few years. However, El-Mhanni has been a victim of bullying and discrimination at the club and it could be best for all parties if he ends up leaving St. James’ Park in search of greener pastures. The Magpies can also move on and bring in a suitable replacement who would be capable enough to challenge for a place in Benitez’s starting XI.

The Tynesiders lacked creativity and energy from midfield last season so they need to bring in some fresh faces this summer in order to address that problem. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of El-Mhanni and whether Newcastle can cope without his services next term.
