As per latest reports, Manchester City are standing at an opportune moment of signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this very summer. The 19-year-old secured a permanent £166m switch to the Parc des Princes after spending the previous season on loan away from AS Monaco.
However, PSG are currently being investigated for Financial Fair Play misdemeanours since they already brought in Neymar last summer for a record-breaking £198m. The Ligue 1 winners could be heaped with fines if found guilty and might just be forced to sell their latest asset.
It was almost inevitable for the authorities to get curious over the club’s unimaginable expenditures. While they look to keep one of their best players in the club, Pep Guardiola and other rivalling parties are certainly putting together another record-shattering transfer fee, in hopes of getting the once-in-a-generation talent.
Pep Guardiola wants to bolster the City squad further and Mbappe’s arrival could put the side over the top of almost all domestic rivals. The Frenchman is still practically a teenager and already is being talked around in the same breath as some of the world’s best.
He is currently representing his country in the 2018 FIFA World Cup and has already scored a goal. Mbappe has 17 caps in total for France and 13 in total for the youth sides. He broke into the scene in the 2016/17 season with Monaco, scoring 26 goals and furthering 14 assists to help the team to the French top division title.
However, his situation at the Parc des Princes has looked dodgy on a few occasions. Plenty of times he has been demoted to the third option behind Neymar and Cavani. The former holds a different stature in the club and also is seen as the leading man.
Reports had come out earlier in the 17/18 season, stating Neymar’s wishes to be the only star player in the PSG squad and for the club to do away with his final-third partner. The Brazilian made the decision to quit Barcelona solely for escaping the shadow of Lionel Messi at the Camp Nou.
With Mbappe taking up much of the spotlight, PSG have a second reason to sell him. City are coming off a domestic double winning season and are looking to build on their past season success.

Mbappe will be an immediate upgrade of Raheem Sterling and also a perfect fit from the wings or as the attacking spearhead.
