Crystal Palace are looking to sign yet another striker from Liverpool after Christian Benteke as they are being linked with Danny Ings. The former Burnley striker has had a torrid time since his move to the Merseyside club as he has struggled with injuries and has failed to get regular playing opportunities.
Roy Hodgson will be looking to improve the side for the upcoming season and they are certainly in need of goalscoring options. The reports suggest that the Eagles have been monitoring his situation for the past 12 months and they are keen to bring the striker at Selhurst Park.
Ings has been at Liverpool since 2015 and was signed by Brendan Rodgers. He has made just 25 appearances for the Reds and has missed close to one and a half year of football due to injury. He has been struggling to get first team opportunities as Liverpool have scored goals galore and their front trio is irreplaceable at the moment. Ings has made bits and pieces appearances under Jurgen Klopp last season and managed just one goal in the Premier League in eight appearances.
Klopp has even preferred the young Dominic Solanke over him and it seems like that Ings doesn’t have much of a future at Anfield. Palace are in desperate need of a striker as Christian Benteke was woeful last season and managed just 3 goals in the entire campaign. Eagles’ creative and scoring onus fell mostly on Wilfried Zaha and Hodgson will be aware that they cannot always depend on the Ivory Coast international.
Palace had a dismal start to the season as they were pointless in the first seven games. They got rid of Frank De Boer and appointed the veteran Roy Hodgson and the experienced manager did go on to improve the side as they finished 11th.
Signing a striker is an absolute necessity for Hodgson as apart from Benteke their only other viable option is Connor Wickham. The situations were so dire the last term that the Eagles used Zaha in the false 9 role and the 25-year-old did find some success.

Ings will certainly be a good option to have even though he has been off his game in the last few years. He was a success at Burnley and that was one of the reasons why the Reds moved in for him. He is a hard worker and will bring a different dimension to the Palace squad. The Englishman will be willing to make those runs in between the defence lines and could form a good partnership with Wilfried Zaha if Hodgson manages to sign him.
