After securing the move for their new manager, Leeds United must turn to the transfer market to bolster their squad to challenge for the playoffs in the upcoming season. They have been linked with a move for Championship‘s top scorer in the 2017-18 season Matej Vydra who managed 22 goals. Meanwhile, Leeds United’s top scorer was Kemar Roofe who managed 11 goals.
It is clear that the team is in need of proven goalscorers and Matej Vydra will certainly fit the bill at Elland Road. However, the Rams have indicated that they will only sell the player for a significant profit. They acquired him for a club record fee of £8m from Watford in 2016 and it remains to be seen what figure the Whites will be willing to offer for the player.
They are also being linked with a move for Abel Hernandez who will be available for free as he was recently released by Hull City. It is clear that the club will get only one of Hernandez or Vydra and it remains to be seen which option will Bielsa go after.
The Whites are in need of stability as they sacked two managers in the space of four months and they have certainly taken a step in the right direction by appointing the veteran tactician Marcelo Bielsa at the helm of the club.
It’s being reported that Bielsa has been offered a transfer budget of £20m. To acquire Vydra, the former Argentina manager will have to blow up more than half of his budget to land the Czech Republican striker and with other areas also to improve, it remains to be seen whether they will spend that much money for the 26-year-old.
Apart from the Peacocks, West Bromwich Albion are also in contention to sign the striker and it is believed that the newly relegated side will be able to offer a much better wage for the player.

The Whites finished 13th in the Championship last season and currently look far way off for the playoff spot. They will need to be smart in their transfer dealings and spend the reported £20m well. The West Yorkshire outfit also lost Pierre Michel Lasogga as he went back to his parent club Hamburg after a loan spell and it is certain that they might need one or even two strikers to prepare for the upcoming season. Vydra is certainly a top option to have but might just be out of bounds for the Whites and the free acquisition of Abel Hernandez might make more of a sense.
