Wolves target, Yacine Brahimi is reportedly hedged towards a move away to either AS Roma or Inter Milan. The Serie A sides are in a better position than the Wanderers to sign the FC Porto winger this summer and is reported to be worth around €25m-€30m.
Nuno Santo was planning on bringing in the winger to better implement his counter-attacking style of play and also because of the 28-year-old’s top-flight experience. Now, the Portuguese tactician might have to place an improved bid or look for alternate options.
Brahimi is entering the final 12 months of his contract with Porto and the Dragons are prepared to sell him now instead of losing him for nothing next summer. Without a contract extension, they cannot demand clubs to pay his release clause either which was earlier reported to be around €60m.
Wolves might have a high investment policy powered by the FOSUN International ownership but Brahimi, at 28, does not entirely fit their checklist. The Molineux-based outfit mostly go after younger talents with a lot of resale value, as evident from the recent Benik Afobe transaction.
Winning the EFL Championship in such dominating fashion is no small a feat and Santo would like to keep up on that streak in the top-flight as well. For that, he will have to bring in experienced talents like Brahimi to beat out the best of what England has to offer.
The winger has tons of skills under those quick feet of his and is one of the best players in the Primera Liga. The Algerian international has a quality touch which he uses to constantly keep opposition defenders guessing.
Brahimi netted the ball on 12 occasions last season and set his teammates up with 10 assists. He has been capped 53 times for the French youth sides during which he registered 16 goals to his name.
Later, he switched his allegiance to Algeria and has so far racked up 39 caps and 11 goals for the African nation. Brahimi has bounced around in the European top-flight, spending time in the La Liga, Ligue 1 and in the Champions League.
He is at the peak of his playing career and could find himself an important role in a top-pedigree side. Both Roma and Inter will be making a run for the league title next season whereas Wolves will be looking to survive a season in the top-flight.

Losing out on his services might not be such a huge loss for Santo since he already has Diogo Jota, Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa in the side.
