Wolverhampton Wanderers are going to take on the challenges of the Premier League head on and they have made some good quality in their first team prepare for the challenges of top division football. They are currently being linked with a move for Singapore international Ikhsan Fandi Ahmad. Ikhsan is one-half of the Fandi brothers and his brother Irfan is also a professional footballer.
Ikhsan is a 19 year old forward who currently plays for Garena Young Lions, a club in the first tier of Singapore’s League. The boy’s talent can be known from the fact that at 19 he already has three international caps for his country and is regarded as the next footballing superstar in his homeland.
The reports suggest that Ikhsan has already had a talk with Nuno Espirito Santo and it might very well happen that the Portuguese manager decides to make a move for him in the transfer market. Apart from Wolves, Leeds United are also said to be interested in the player but currently, the West Midlands club are leading the race to sign the forward. It has been reported that both the brothers are set for a trial at Wolves soon.
Nuno Santo’s side looked well above everyone in the Championship and now they are looking to bolster their squad for the upcoming season. Ikhsan Fandi won’t certainly make the senior team straight away, so it is clear the Wolves are also looking for long-term prospects. The move will also go down well from a marketing point of view giving Wolves a new brand of supporters from Singapore.
It now seems like the Whites have missed out on the Fandi brothers and Wolves are in pole position currently to sign the player.
The 19-year-old forward shot into limelight in his country while representing Singapore u-16 against Liverpool u-15. His national team were 3-0 down at halftime and Ikhsan was brought on in the second half. He scored a perfect hat-trick in 10 minutes and his team were level by the 56th-minute mark.Â
