Leeds United have reportedly lost out to Wolves in the race for the Singaporean brothers, Irfan Fandi Ahmad and Ikhsan Fandi Ahmad. The latter is 19 years old and plays as an attacking midfielder and is versatile enough to play in more offensive positions.
He has been capped 10 times for Singapore’s U22 and U23 sides and just once for the senior squad. He made his debut against Hong Kong by coming on for Khairul Amri in the 71st minutes.
Ikhsan Fandi was also part of his U16 side with placed third in the 2015 Lion City Cup. The Liverpool U15’s were 3-0 up by halftime but the 19-year-old came on in the second half to score and hattrick and took the side to penalties. Unfortunately, the team lost 5-3 in the end.
Ikhsan appeared in 12 games in the Singapore Premier League last season and scored 4 goals. He is the son of Singaporean footballing legend, Fandi Ahmad and South African model, Wendy Jacobs.
The 19-year-old started out on his professional career with the National Academy based out of his home nation and has also served his nation in the armed forces just like his brother.
Both the Fandi brothers had travelled to Spain in March 2013 for an opportunity to play for Segunda Division side, Hercules CF but ultimately could not tie down permanent contracts due to problems related to their VISA’s. They subsequently moved to Chile to sign a two-year deal with AC Barnechea.
The brothers switched over to Universidad Catolica later and Irfan became the youngest Singaporean player to ever play in the Chilean first division. However, neither of the two were allowed to feature much for the side which prompted them to move back to Singapore.
In June 2015, Ikhsan joined his brother on a 6-month stint with Young Lions in the S. League. The 19-year-old finished the season with just 4 appearances and zero goals due to his time away with the military.
Before the start of the 2017 season, he switched to Home United FC and collectively managed only 10 appearances for the side. Now it is being reported that Ikhsan along with his elder brother is ready to try their luck in Europe.
Wolves seem like as good a side as any to test themselves with. The Wanderers have just recently earned promotion to the Premier League and are on an ambitious path of cementing their spot as a top English side.

Outside of the investments they have made, the Molineux will also have to produce young talents to really secure a future for the side. Maybe Ikhsan will be able to find his fortunes in the West Midlands.
