According to latest reports, Everton are soon going to table a bid for Hull City‘s teenage winger Jarrod Bowen. The reports suggest that the bid will be around £12m and it remains to be seen what will City’s response be. Bowen had a breakthrough season last term as he flourished under Nigel Adkins. However, Marco Silva also seems to be impressed with him and wants to bring the 21-year-old to Goodison Park.
Marco Silva has worked with the Englishman when he was at the KCOM stadium and will be looking to reunite with the youngster. He was one of the standout players for the Tigers last season as he managed 15 goals and three assists. It is believed that Hull City are not going to sell the winger but the Merseyside outfit will test City’s resolve to hold on to their prized young asset.
Recently, Bowen gave an interview which suggested how he is keen to play the next season with Hull City. He commented about the set of fixtures of the upcoming season. He said, ”You can’t help but have a little smile on your face when you see the fixtures have been announced – it whets your appetite for getting back out there and doing what you love the most.”
He further added, ”Last season we were away at Aston Villa in what was a 5.30pm kick-off in front of the Sky Sports cameras. That was a nice way to start the season off. I suppose it doesn’t matter really matter who we get though because we’ve got to play every team twice during the season at some point, but it would be nice to kick-off the new season on home soil in front of our own fans.”
The way he is talking it seems clear that he is looking forward to the upcoming season in Hull colours but in football, one might never know as the player might be lured by the chance to play in the top division.
The Toffees are looking for a new beginning under Marco Silva and a lot will be expected out of him in the upcoming season. They finished 8th last term and that can be cited as a decent rank, but that wasn’t enough to save Sam Allardyce’s job at Goodison Park. It is certain that under the new ownership of Farhad Moshiri, the Merseyside club is looking to challenge the big boys of the Premier League.

Currently, Everton doesn’t have many options in the out and out winger’s role and only Theo Walcott and Yannick Bolasie can be termed as natural wingers. Walcott has lately been used in a more central position so the signing of a winger to provide width on the playing field is an absolute necessity for Marco Silva.
The fact that he has worked with Bowen for some time from close quarters will be a bonus as he will be aware what he is going to get from him and the numbers and performance of the youngster were certainly impressive in the last season.
