The progress at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp is undeniable but the lack of silverware in his time at Liverpool will certainly make the German tactician a bit anxious, going into the new season. Klopp is looking to add some quality to his squad to help them compete with the best next season but will also have to sort out the futures of a few stars in the team at the moment.
One such player, who has no real future at Anfield is Daniel Sturridge.
The English international is probably the most gifted striker in England at the moment and is the best finisher in the country after Harry Kane and probably Jamie Vardy. He is a fleet-footed and street-smart centre-forward, who is not exactly built for the English game.
He is adept at creating chances for himself out of a nowhere and is a match winner on his day and was crucial in Liverpool running Manchester City close to the league title back in 2014. However, since Klopp joined the club, Sturridge has only been an outsider in the first team, thanks to his injury history and lack of form.
Sturridge has missed 40% of Liverpool games under Klopp and struggled to get into the first team last season. So he was sent out on loan to West Brom, where he failed to have an impact and save them from relegation. He is back with Liverpool now and at 28, will be in his prime as a footballer for the next couple of seasons.
He is also a fan favourite for the Kop and will not be easy to sell but Klopp has now stamped his authority on the squad and there is very little place for Sturridge in the first team. His wages might be an issue for potential suitors but reports suggest that Fenerbahce are ready to do what it takes to land Sturridge. So should Liverpool let him leave?
After a sensational 30 goal season with the Reds under Brendan Rodgers, Sturridge has not hit such heights again in the last couple of years and is not a player Liverpool can trust for the toughest occasions. His injury history is his worst enemy and that has also seen him lose confidence and form on a consistent basis.
Liverpool have Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke as backups to Robert Firmino while Rhian Brewster is ready to take the step up. Divock Origi is also back from a loan spell, leaving Sturridge way down the pecking order.

He will be sold at a reasonable price, which means that Liverpool do not really have to sell. So if Klopp is convinced that Sturridge can help the Reds next season, he may yet stay at Anfield for another. But if the 28-year old wants regular game time, it might be best for him to start searching for clubs elsewhere.
