Roy Hodgson did really well to take Crystal Palace away from the relegation zone last season, with resources that were often unavailable. The Eagles have a decent squad at their disposal but for too many years now, there has not been significant progress at the club.
The former English boss will now look to help them take the next step in the upcoming campaign and is trying to add some first team quality to a squad that needs a few upgrades. This has seen him get linked with a number of exciting names recently but one player now on their radar is Jack Wilshere.
The English international, who was distraught at not being selected for the World Cup in Russia recently, is currently at a crucial juncture in his career. He joined Arsenal as a kid in 2001 and rose through the ranks to break into the first team in 2008. He made an immediate impact in Europe and was expected to be a mainstay for the Gunners for years to come.
However, he constantly struggled with injuries, slowly losing his place in the first team under Arsene Wenger and in 2016, he had to be sent out on loan to Bournemouth, to offer him some game time. He was impressive at Dean Court and was given a chance last season in the first team but failed to find any consistency.
His injury history also pegged him down as he registered just two goals and five assists in 38 games in all competitions. He is a gifted footballer with great technique and understanding of the game. He is a creative midfielder, who is ready to do the dirty work and adds balance to his side in the middle of the park.
He can be a match winner on his day and at just 26, can still improve as a footballer. He is out of a contract in a fortnight and is yet to sign a new deal at Emirates. He is worried about his first-team chances under new boss Unai Emery and is now unsettled at the club.

This has seen many Premier League clubs show an interest in Wilshere and Palace are not too far behind. His wages might make him expensive by on a free transfer, he is certainly an upgrade on the options Palace have at the moment.
Luka Milivojevic has turned into a star for the club last season but does not have an able partner in the midfield. Yohan Cabaye and James McArthur can put in a shift but Wilshere is an upgrade on every name and is just the kind of a player Palace need at the moment.
